We often get questions on how to adopt or rescue from the Irving Animal Shelter. So I thought we should put it all in one spot to make it easy for you. If you ever have a question, please comment on this blog or PM our Facebook page and one of the admins will help you. Thanks!
HOW TO ADOPT or RESCUE
IF NOT LOCAL you *MUST* know how you will transport
*BEFORE* contacting the shelter. The shelter can NOT arrange transport.

The adoption fee for a dog is $100. Up to 1/2 of
that amount ($50) can be covered by donations IF available.
ADOPTERS
please include the following information in your email:
1. Animal name and ID numberID 5. A Copy of your
GOVT ID. You can attach as an attachement or FAX to F: (972) 721-2106
5. A RELIABLE phone number you can be reached at
during shelter hours. Being able to
reach you by phone is critical!
Animals being adopted
will be:
* Up to date on their
vaccinations (Including rabies if the animal if over 4 months of age)
* Spayed or Neutered or
$50 voucher towards spay/neuter (depending on surgery availability)
* Given a general
dewormer and treated for fleas
* Microchipped and
registered with 24 Pet Watch
* Heartworm tested (Dogs
over 6 months of age)
* FeLV/FIV tested (Cats
over 6 months of age)
* Given 30 days of
ShelterCare Pet Insurance (With a valid email address)
* Given a Certicate for
$5.00 off the food being used by the Shelter
RESCUES
please include the
following information in your email:
1. Animal name and ID
number
2. Full name
3. Phone number with the
name of the person the number is associated with
4. Your 501(c)(3)
determination letter from the IRS if not already on file.

All adoptions are
first-come-first-served, including rescue tags.
